A SOUTH Side councillor has urged residents to get tested for coronavirus after an anti-deportation protest was held in Pollokshields.
The demonstration saw members of the community unite to block an immigration enforcement van for more than eight hours.
Hundreds of protestors were at the scene on Kenmure Street, with one man lying underneath the vehicle for the duration of the demonstration.
Chants including "open the door", "leave our neighbours", "let them go", were echoed until the two men - named Sumit Sehdev and Lakhvir Singh - were released.
Mhairi Hunter, who is the area's SNP representative, urged her constituents to get tested for the virus after writing "very proud to be a South Sider" on Twitter.
She added: "But also, everyone in Kenmure Street today needs to get a Covid test.
"Watch out for details of local testing centres or send away for one."

Police Scotland have confirmed that three people were arrested during the stand-off.
A spokesman said: "Two men, aged 31 and 32 and a 23-year-old woman were arrested following today's police operation in Kenmure Street."
After being released, Lakhvir spoke ITV news to say thank you to the hundreds of people that blocked the mmigration enforcement van.
He said: "[It is] the happiest feeling, the force of all the people coming there to support us.
"Thank you very, very much, thank you to all the people.
"Thank you."
Human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar is now representing the two men, who were released from the van and taken to a place of safety at a local mosque.
Meanwhile, we told yesterday how cases were increasing in different areas across Glasgow.
Local GP surgeries in the G42 postcode have texted patients urging them to get tested due to the "sharp rise" in Covid cases.
A text from Mount Florida Medical Centre reads: "All patients, with or without Covid symptoms, who live in thr G42 postcode area are advised to get a Cofid test as soon as possible.
"This is due to a sharp rise in Covid cases in this area."
