A RAIL union has entered a war of words with Scotrail over a pot noodle.
The RMT union who represents conductors and ticket examiners claim that volunteers hired to cover staff strikes are being treated to high-end lunches and luxury working conditions.
However, ScotRail bosses have hit back at claims saying lunches consisted of just a piece of fruit, a bottle of water and a pot noodle.
General Secretary of RMT, Mick Lynch said: “Not only are Abellio playing fast and loose on safety by drafting in managers to scab on the dispute with only cursory training but they are also treating it like a beano with packed lunches and the kind of treatment permanent staff could only dream of.”
A ScotRail spokesman said: “The main part of that lunch, which includes a piece of fruit and water, is a Pot Noodle. Even the most ardent fan of the savoury snack would struggle to match the RMT’s laughable description of ‘a high-end lunch.'"
The clash comes as conductors and ticket examiners continue strike action over enhanced payments for rest-day working.
