A POLICE officer has shared images of gruesome injuries sustained by cops after they were attacked by Rangers fans. 

Calum Steele, the general secretary of the Scottish Police Federation, posted the shocking pictures to his Twitter account today.

The head of the police union said: "No matter how unbelievably lucky we are to have such courageous officers protecting our communities, none of them - NONE - deserve this."

The pictures show one officer's bloodied mouth, which has had to be stitched up and another cop who's arm was in a cast.

We told earlier how boozed-up Light Blues supporters celebrating their club's 55th Premiership title on Saturday launched traffic cones and plastic bollards and riot cops in George Square. 

Police Scotland confirmed that five officers were injured in the riotous scenes, which were widely condemned by the city's top brass and the Scottish Government. 

More than 20 people have been arrested so far, with one senior cop warning more would follow. 

Mr Steel launched an attack on the Scottish Government on social media today saying cops were being put at risk because of "half a decade of cuts".
