THE opening hours of Glasgow's Subway network could be extended once modernisation works are complete, it has been revealed.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) bosses have confirmed they intend to look at the current system at the end of an ongoing £288 million renovation programme.
At present, trains operate between the hours of 6.30am and 11.40pm Monday to Saturday and between just 10am and 6.12pm on Sunday. In recent times, there has been growing clamour for the opening hours to be extended, with an ongoing petition receiving thousands of signatures.

When asked today if a change to operating hours was on the cards, an SPT spokeswoman said: "Yes, it is our intention to look at extending Subway opening hours once the modernisation programme is complete."
Work on the £288m Subway Modernisation programme began in July 2011 with the refurbishment of Hillhead station.
