A FORMER SNP MP and MSP from Glasgow has sadly died.
Nicola Sturgeon has paid tribute to Andrew Welsh, who was a former pupil of Govan High School.
The 77-year-old attended at the University of Glasgow and worked as a teacher before becoming a politician.
The First Minister wrote: "Very sad to hear of the passing of dear friend and colleague, Andrew Welsh, former SNP MP and MSP for Angus.
"Andrew was a campaigner for independence long before it had the levels of support enjoyed today.

Stewart McDonald, MP for Glasgow South, also paid tribute.
He said: "This is indeed sad news. Andrew was a formidable public servant and independence campaigner over many, many years.
"He’s also a fellow former pupil of Govan High School. My sympathy to his family and friends."
