A YOB who was involved in a mass brawl at the Rangers title celebrations has avoided jail today.

Adam Martin, 29, fought with fellow supporters at Glasgow’s Argyle Street on May 15, this year.

Rangers fans gathered in their thousands in the city centre to celebrate the club’s Scottish Premiership trophy day.

Prosecutor Emma Baker told Glasgow Sheriff Court at an earlier hearing: “Martin was part of a large-scale disturbance after the Rangers title celebrations took place.

“Police were alerted to a large-scale fight that broke out at Argyle Street railway station.

“Officers intervened and Martin was part of the fight and the police moved in and broke it up. Martin was then arrested.”

Martin pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to conducting himself in a disorderly manner and committed breach of the peace.

Gerry Devanney, defending, told the court that he had been drinking and was on his way home.

The lawyer added: "He became involved in the incident with someone he didn't recognise and thereafter he was arrested and kept in custody ever since."

Sheriff Paul Brown tagged Martin, of Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, for 135 days keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.

He was also put under supervision for 18 months.
