CELTIC are reportedly in talks to sign Rubin Kazan defender Carl Starfelt.

The Hoops are said to be discussing a potential £4m transfer for the Swedish defender.

The Scottish Sun claims Parkhead cheifs have made an opening bid for the stopper.

If the deal does go ahead it would make Postecoglou's first two signings defenders, with Osaze Urhoghide joining on a four-year deal last week. 

Starfelt, 27, had extended his deal with Russian outfit Kazan in February until 2024 but is reportedly keen on a move to Glasgow.

It comes as Kris Ajer has been touted with a move away from Celtic this summer.

Starfelt, meanwhile, played 30 times in Russia last season at club level and managed two caps for Sweden against Denmark and Estonia respectively.

The 26-year-old counts ex-Celt Mikael Lustig and current Rangers ace Filip Helander as international teammates.
