CALLOUS thieves have again raided a donation box at a popular Scottish beauty spot, who have vowed: "We won't be beaten."

The robbers struck at the Tom Weir memorial site on the banks of Loch Lomond and stole what is thought to be a small about of cash from generous tourists.

It is the third such raid in recent years according to the conservation and heritage charity Friends of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. 

Sandy Fraser, the owner of the popular Oak Tree Inn beside the site, said the raid had "dented" the area's recovery process but that locals were "determined" to get ack on track.

James Fraser, chair of the Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs said: ''This latest incident has been reported to the police and, thankfully, the boxes are regularly emptied, so they won’t have got very much for their trouble on this occasion.

Glasgow Times:

"However, it does beggar belief that some thoughtless individuals think it is alright to steal funds donated by members of the public to help look after this memorial site and picnic area, and while it is disappointing thieves have struck again we are determined not to be beaten by them and we plan to step up security measures again."

The charity has urged people to donate to support their efforts in and around the loch such as toilets and litter bins.
