MYSTERY has surrounded a giant "eyesore" dome recently erected in Glasgow.
Locals have been taking to social media to quiz the purpose of the structure after it emerged in Oatlands last week.
Residents have also been speculating that it could grow in size.
One person said: "Just looking to see if anyone knows how big this is going to get? What an eyesore."
Another added: "It’s a Lillianna tree - grows up very high there’s one in my backcourt lol."
Others have been trying to figure out if it is used to contain grit for the city's roads.
"I was told it's going to hold salt for the roads? Don't imagine it'll get much bigger", said another local.
Meanwhile, Amey - a roads maintenance company - have confirmed that the dome is being used as part of an ongoing improvements programme at Polmadie depot.
A spokesman said: "This structure is being constructed as part of a programme of improvements at our Polmadie depot.
"We will be releasing more information about the changes at the depot in due course and I will make sure we share this information with you nearer the time."
