IT'S full steam ahead for plans to demolish a footbridge over a Glasgow railway line.
Network Rail bosses have won their bid to remove the Glasgow Central to East Kilbride crossing between Cartcraigs Road, in Pollokshaws, and Kennishead Road.
Due to the "bridge's poor condition and low usage", it was argued demolition was the only way to go.
Rail chiefs say it is to allow the installation of electric lines on the route, which is part of the East Kilbride Enhancement Project.
Glasgow City Council bosses granted the plans permission, subject to conditions, last week.
The East Kilbride Enhancement Project was launched to completely overhaul the route to cope with ever-increasing capacity. It will also see the town's Hairmyres station moved to a new location.
