A MAN told his elderly father that he’d “punch his face in” and went on to say that he wished he was dead.

Steven Bottley, 42, shouted abuse at his dad, 85, outside the OAP’s own home in Possilpark last month.

He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court from custody to be sentenced on Monday, after previously pleading guilty to repeatedly shouting, swearing, demanding entry to the home and uttering offensive remarks.

Prosecutor Jennifer Gilmour said: “At 8.50pm on June 26, the accused’s father contacted police on the basis that the accused was at his front door.

“Officers attended but the accused had left before they arrived.”

Glasgow Times:

Hours later at 2.40am, the elderly man was still within his home when Bottley attended again, banging on the door.

Ms Gilmour added: “He repeatedly banged on the door whilst shouting and swearing. The accused shouted ‘open the f*****g door, I’ll punch your face in. I’ll damage your car and slash its tyres’.

“The father contacted police. Officers heard the accused shout ‘that old b*****d won’t let me in’. He then shouted ‘I hope you f*****g die’ towards his father.

“He continued to shout, ‘I wish you had died instead of my mum’. Let me in you stupid old b*****d’.”

Officers told Bottley, who was listed as having no fixed address, to refrain from shouting due to the time, but he refused.

When he was charged, he replied, ‘aye I hope that old b*****d dies’.

His defence solicitor told the court that he was remanded in custody for another matter.

He said: “Despite his behaviour, he has concerns for the well-being of his father. He has fairly significant difficulties to deal with himself. I would simply ask you to take the view that it’s not the most serious incident. He has been caring for his father who he thinks has early dementia.”

Sheriff Allan Findlay jailed Bottley for four months.
