A THUG pushed his mum after she refused to give him money.

Jamie McDonald struck out at Kirsteen Murray at her mum’s home in Glasgow’s Tollcross on April 11, 2021.

The 28-year-old when stopped by police stated: “Was it my mum that phoned you, I didn’t assault her I pushed her.”

McDonald went on to claim he had coronavirus symptoms before spitting on the officers.

McDonald pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Miss Murray and the two officers.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

The court heard McDonald entered the property around 12pm while his mum was already inside.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “McDonald was seeking to borrow money but she refused.

“McDonald seized hold of her body and pushed her into a bedroom.

“He was told to leave by Miss Murray and she called the police.”

McDonald was traced to nearby Shettleston Road when he made the admission comments.

Mr Allan said: “McDonald began shouting at the police that he had coronavirus symptoms.

“He began to cough at the police.”

Family members who were onlookers stated to officers that McDonald was lying about his symptoms.

Ian McClelland, defending, told the court that McDonald “accepts he shouldn’t have [pushed his mum].”

Sheriff Tony Kelly jailed McDonald, of Tollcross, for 12 months.
