A THUG attacked a man on a busy road before making off with his mobile phone.

The 47-year-old victim was pushed to the ground on Cumbernauld Road, near to Crowwood Terrace, Chryston on Saturday night.

Personal items and his mobile was stolen by the thief at around 10.15pm. 

Cops say the suspect is described as white, 5ft8 in height, in his late 20s/early 30s, of average build, with short blonde hair and was clean shaven.

He was wearing a black tracksuit and white trainers and spoke with a local accent. 

Detective Constable Emma Macfarlane, of Coatbridge CID, said: "The suspect ran off towards Crowwood Road after the attack.

"At the moment we have no motive for what happened other than a robbery and it has left the man, who thankfully was not seriously injured, very shaken by what happened. 

"This area of Cumbernauld Road, even at 10.15pm at night, can be busy with traffic, so I am appealing to anyone who was driving nearby, especially those with dash-cam footage, to contact police. 

"We believe the suspect had been walking from a nearby hotel, so again, if you were in Cumbernauld Road near Crowwood Terrace and saw the attack or the suspect, then please call officers via 101 quoting reference number 3801 of Sunday, August 1, 2021.
