Dog lovers rejoice - the Beatson Cancer Charity's PAW Walk is back once again.

The sponsored walk event, now in its second year, will help to raise money for the cancer charity, with dog owners urged to get involved with the fundraising.

The PAW Walk will take place on National Dog Week, which runs from Monday, September 20 until Sunday, September 26, and will encourage those taking part to pick a route of their choice to use for their sponsored walk.

Those looking to get involved will pay a £10 entry fee, with a doggie goodie bag, dog Beaton bandana and a Beatson t-shirt for owners included in the registration.

Charlene Low, corporate partnership fundraiser, said: “Since we had to cancel many of our events due to the pandemic, we wanted to find a fun way to fundraise whilst respecting the social distancing arrangements. Last year’s event was such a success, we’re excited to be running it again.

“Daily walks with my Beagle, Ditsy, has been hugely beneficial for me during lockdown and I know many of our patients feel the same especially during treatment.  We are all thrilled with our new dog tartan items so we think the Paw Walk is the perfect event and will be very popular raising much-needed funds for our charity.  Our supporters go above and beyond for us – can't wait to see the photos of them out and about in yellow.”

The first 50 registered walkers will also be given goodies from pet retailer, Creature Comforts.

While the walk will give a great excuse to raise money for charity, Beatson is also on the lookout for a new 'Ambassadog', taking over from pooch, Comet, who took the title last year.

Martin Cawley, CEO of the Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “Last year’s Paw Walk was a great success, and we really hope that dog-lovers across Glasgow and the west can help us deliver an even bigger event this year.”
