A MAN will stand trial accused of being aggressive towards members of the public.

Peter Hutchinson, 38, allegedly committed the crime in Glasgow's West End on October 29, last year.

Prosecutors claim Hutchinson repeatedly shouted and swore then behaved in an aggressive manner on Great George Street and Byers Road.

It is claimed he repeatedly approached members of the public before shouting and swearing at them.

The charge further states that Hutchinson repeatedly struck lampposts and other objects with a chain and a pole.

Allegations also include Hutchinson punching a car, throwing cups and other objects towards members of the pubic as well as striking a police car with his head and body.

The charge lastly states Hutchinson struggled with police officers.

Hutchinson faces separate allegations of having a piece of wood without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

He is also accused of assaulting constable David Byrdson by spitting on his head and body on Great George Street on the same day.

Hutchinson pleaded not guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the three charges.

A trial was set for April next year by Sheriff Alan Mackenzie.

Hutchinson, of the city's Knightswood, remains on bail for the matter meantime.
