A MAN threatened his neighbours with a knife - after they told him to calm down.

Harry Kerr turned on the couple in the close of his flats in Rutherglen, near Glasgow on April 12 2021.

The 39-year-old had earlier been heard yelling on his phone.

He screamed: "Get my money or you are getting stabbed."

The women thought he was under the influence and went to get her partner, who suggested Kerr calm down.

Prosecutor John Bedford told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “This further angered Kerr and he then produced a knife.

"The couple become fearful and called the police.”

Kerr meantime continued to shout threats down the phone.

He ended up being arrested and pleaded guilty to possession of a knife and behaving in a threatening manner.

John McLaughlin, defending, stated: “He was intoxicated and could not even remember what he had done.”

Sheriff Joan Kerr sentenced him to 14 months in jail.
