Vegan tapas might not be the first meal you would associate with whisky, but the upcoming collaboration between popular plant-based restaurant Mono and the Scotch Malt Whisky Society has us wondering why we would ever doubt the perfect match.

Mono head chef Anne McWilliam and her team are taking over the kitchen at 38 Bath street to serve up a six-course, fully vegan menu designed to be brought to life by each whisky’s unique flavour profile.

Glasgow Times:

Anne said: “The beauty of the Society’s flavour profiles is that they can be matched with a broad range of ingredients, and the dishes we’ve created include Mono’s take on a Mexican classic, a fresh Mediterranean salad and a rich decadent dessert.

Glasgow Times:

Each dish is made from local ingredients, is free from all animal produce, and has been designed to enhance and complement one of the Society’s chosen whisky flavour profiles.”

Mono has a long-standing reputation as one of Glasgow’s best-loved vegan eateries since its opening in 2002.

Glasgow Times:

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has grown to have 27,000 since it was established in 1983.

Their combined experience has us very excited to try the innovative new menu.

Glasgow Times:

The Society will be hosting a members-only event with the full six-course menu and whisky pairings on 28 August with tickets priced at £10 per head

Non-members can sample dishes from the vegan tapas menu every Tuesday evening throughout August at the SMWS Bath street member’s room.
