STRATHCLYDE University's legendary student union is moving to a new home.
The John Street institution which has seen thousands of students pass through its doors since it opened in 1959.
It has played host to gigs from stars such as Cascada and in the 1970s, the Lord Provost of Glasgow almost put a stop to famous punk band The Ramones playing the venue. He was quoted in the Evening Times as saying: “Glasgow has enough yobs of its own… We don’t need to import them.”

Pink Floyd, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac and Blondie have all played to ecstatic crowds too.
In recent years, it has played host to Calvin Harris and Frightened Rabbit.
In 2019, then Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn spoke to a crowd of more than 600 students.
The union will now move to a new modern building within the Teaching and Learning hub on Richmond Street and will open next month.
