Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars
MUSICIANS can often find themselves trying to establish a unique, superstar presence at the start of their career.
For others, it can come completely naturally.
In the case of Sarah Griffiths – better known by her stage name Griff – she burst onto the music scene knowing exactly who she was.
The same rings true for her joyful performance at this year's TRNSMT Festival – her first-ever gig outside of London. "It's nice to see you've all showed up in Glasgow," she joked.
The Hertfordshire popstar kicked off her earworm-filled set on the King Tut's stage with the thumping, synth-filled Heart of Gold, followed by a completely new track.
The singer-songwriter's signature bubble ponytail, while extremely fashionable, proved to be impractical on stage after it caught on her guitar strap – not once, but twice.
The 20-year-old offered the rowdy Glaswegian crowd euphoric hooks and punchy melodies with the audience belting back the uplifting Forgive Myself.
The funky 1,000,000 X Better saw security staff boogying in the pit, with Griff's drummer taking it upon himself to hype up a bunch of fans at the barrier, bantering back and forth.

Delivering yet another welcome dose of pop perfection, the star performed the thundering One Foot in Front of the Other – the title track from her critically-acclaimed debut mixtape released earlier this summer.
The first live performance of One Night – released just last week – went down a storm, followed by the handclap-filled Shade of Yellow, which boasted some very enthusiastic audience participation.
Griff exuded seemingly effortless confidence, storming and twirling across the Tut's stage to the radio-ready hit Black Hole to round off the set.
The killer tune blessed the crowd with punchy hooks and other-worldly vocals, the singer belting every word as the crowd shouted back.
The former bedroom producer scooped the prestigious Rising Star Award at this year's Brits – a title once held by the likes of Adele, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith – and her masterful TRNSMT set has most definitely cemented the accolade.
"You have been incredible," the singer proclaimed before exiting the stage. If there's one thing that revellers can take away from tonight's glittering performance, it's that Griff is a talent hugely deserving of the hype — and she's incredible, too.
