ACTOR Martin Compston got his own back with a savage tweet after a fan hit out at the ending of hit BBC dramas Line of Duty and Vigil.
The fan said the two programmes, which have kept fans on the edge of seats this year, had "c***" endings. He said: "So that’s #vigil and #lineofduty that had really crap endings, choose the next series wisely Martin Compston, you don’t want to make it a hat trick."

But Compston didn't let the fan get to him and clapped back with this savage reply. The Greenock-born actor said: "I know Dave pal I’ve made an a*** of it. One the biggest new drama of the year the other biggest drama of the year/century. Agents for the sack."

Vigil came to an end last night but viewers had mixed opinions of the finale. One said: "Aw brilliant! There's The Rig humped before we've even kicked a baw.
"Thanks a lot, mate Well handled as always, bud! Congratulations on another belter of a series and performance! Smashed it!! Hope you're good!"
But another said the ending was "underwhelming", adding: "To be fair Martin the guy is right about the endings being c*** and I think deep down you know this."
Compston is set to star in The Rig on Amazon Prime next year.
