BLACK HISTORY MONTH is here, and to celebrate and honour the histories of Scotland's different cultures there are a range of activites and events to enjoy in Glasgow. 

Tours, talks, film screenings and more feature across the city during October to acknowledge black history in Glasgow and reflect on Scotland's 'hidden histories'.

Historical walking tours take place on Sundays from 1-3pm, beginning at the David Livingstone statue in Cathedral Square and ending at the Gallery of Modern Art. This walk promises to deliver an historical insight to Glasgow's history of tobacco, slavery and abolition.

There is another free walking tour in George Square on October 30 from 2-3pm led by Dr Michael Morris, who will lift the lid on the history of the iconic statues in one of Glasgow's busiest squares. Places can be booked HERE.

Glasgow University's Hunterian Museum is holding weekly talks on Tuesdays from 1-2pm in which curators explain the historical significance of some of the museum's objects to black history.

These talks are also free and can be booked for October 12, 19, and 26 HERE.

If you enjoy a trip to the movies, the Glasgow Film Theatre is showing a number of films for Black History Month, including Blacks Britannia on October 11, and acclaimed new biographical film Judas and the Black Messiah on October 18.

Each screening is followed by a panel discussion of filmmakers and speakers. You can book tickets HERE.
