Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard is ready to "fight" with former teammate Kieran Tierney in upcoming Premier League clashes.
The Frenchman put pen to paper on the final day of the transfer window this summer, signing for the Eagles in a deal worth up to £19 million. Just days after signing, Edouard was an instant hit, coming on as a substitute before scoring an emphatic brace in his sides 3-0 win over London rivals Tottenham.
Following in the footsteps of ex-Celt Tierney, Edouard believes the Arsenal left-back is still his friend but will be prepared to "fight" after the first whistle blows.
The former Celtic duo are set to lock horns this season with their respective clubs in the English Premier League.
Speaking to UNM, Edouard was full of praise for his former teammate.
He said: “He’s very good. I had the chance to play with him for two years and I enjoyed it.
"He made a big impact on the left side and gave me a lot of assists, so he’s good.
“For 90 minutes, it’ll be a fight. But after the game for sure, I’ll speak to him, I’ll get in touch. He’s still my friend."
Reminiscing of his days north of the border, the 23-year-old described the Old Firm derby as a unique occasion. He said: “It’s incredible. I’ve never seen atmosphere like this. When we play against Rangers, with the Celtic fans at Celtic Park it is crazy.
"I can’t explain it. You have to live this, to understand how I feel."
