Everyone has a spare coat or jacket sitting at the back of their wardrobe, and now you can put yours to good use.
Charity Human Appeal is running their campaign Wrap Up in a bid to collect as many coats as they can for the homeless population in Glasgow as the nights get colder.
The project seeks to help not only the homeless but refugees, people fleeing domestic violence and other vulnerable people who need to keep warm this winter.
The organisation have operated Wrap Up for six years in a row, helping to donate over 230,000 coats to the homeless across the UK.
People wishing to help can donate their coat to Townhead Village Hall and Safestore Southside. All drop-offs will be contactless and coats quarantined to ensure everyone is safe.
Abid Shah, Human Appeal’s UK Programmes Manager said: “It’s difficult to know precisely how many people are homeless at any given time.
"We knew that Wrap Up would be much more of a challenge to organize this year, but that’s nothing compared to the challenges people across the UK are facing because of the pandemic and now the long road back to building up their lives in a post pandemic world.
"With economic uncertainty and possible restriction this winter, the need for Wrap Up has never been greater and Human Appeal stands ready to help as always.
“That spare coat you never wear, that’s been hanging in the same spot for months, could be someone’s lifeline this winter.
"So we are asking for people to pop down to their local drop-off point and make a difference.”
Kind-hearted Glaswegians wishing to help can donate their coats at the following locations and times:
Townhead Village Hall, 60 St Mungo Avenue, Glasgow, G4 0PL.
Monday to Friday 10.30 am – 6.30 pm Saturday to Sunday 10.30 am – 2.30 pm.
