RANGERS and Celtic have been handed a reminder of how to grind out results after Scotland's narrow 1-0 win over the Faroes last night.
Hearts midfielder Andy Halliday has jumped to the defence of Steve Clarke and the national side after the vital Group F victory.
The win in Torshavn made it four wins on the bounce for the Scots, as they took one more large step towards a World Cup play-off spot thanks to Lyndon Dykes.
However, by the admission of the manager and others in the squad, the performance was not up to scratch and there's no doubting Scotland rode their luck at points.
But ex-Rangers ace Halliday was keen to remind everyone that it's the results that matter when all is said and done - as he drew upon a comparison with recent Old Firm results.
He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: "Look at Rangers at home to Motherwell. They dominated the play, but drew 1-1.
"Celtic against Livingston, they dominated the play, they lost 1-0. You'd rather play poorly and win than play well and lose.
"If we'd played brilliantly and drawn, we'd be sitting here saying it wasn't good enough."
