A CITY centre church has closed after damage caused plaster to fall from the ceiling.
St Vincent Street Church, the sole survivor of three churches designed for the city by architect Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, had its final Glasgow City Free Church (GCFC) service yesterday.
A spokesperson from the Alexander Thomson Society told The Times: "A significant plaster fall this week has seen the main hall declared unsafe and we were informed on Friday that the GCFC will be moving their services to the Partick Free Church on Crow Road."
The falling plaster also damaged pews.

The spokesperson added that they will work with the council as it takes over the building.
The Times reported that the final service included a presentation of thanksgiving from church members for the 50 years spent in the building.
The building has been used as a church for more than 160 years, after it was commissioned in 1856 and dedicated in 1859.
