A new Glasgow-based crime drama is coming to Channel 4, featuring stars from Line of Duty, Derry Girls and Game of Thrones.
Screw was filmed in Kelvin Hall earlier this year and revolves around the lives of staff at a busy men's prison.
Described as "bursting at the seams with humour, emotional high stakes and danger for prisoners and officers alike", the show is inspired by writer Rob Williams' experience working in a prison.
Having written for shows including Killing Eve, Williams is certainly no stranger to creating TV hits and paired with a stellar cast, the new series is likely to attract plenty of viewers.
Here's everything you need to know about the release date, plot and cast of Screw...
What is the release date for Screw?
There is currently no exact release date for Screw, however it is expected to drop in early 2022.
The series was among the first shows to be filmed in Glasgow's Kelvin Hall ahead of plans to create a £11.9m TV and film studio.
Speaking on the location, Sarah Brown, creative director of Drama for STV Studios which produced the series said: "We are incredibly lucky to have secured the perfect home for our new production in Glasgow’s iconic Kelvin Hall.
"Not only does it provide the vast space we need for our three-storey prison set; but its situation right in the heart of the city’s west end made it both a convenient and thoroughly enjoyable place for our team to work."
What channel will Screw be on?
Despite being produced by STV Studios, Screw will appear on Channel 4 from early January 2022.
It will therefore also be available to watch on All 4.
What is the plot of Screw?
Channel 4's synopsis of Screw reads: "On a wing bursting at the seams, at the front line of a train-wreck of broken bureaucracy and short-term thinking, Leigh goes above and beyond for her prisoners.
"But Leigh has her own secrets and a past that if discovered, could cost much more than her job.
"Will mouthy young Rose, a new recruit with her own agenda, mark the end of the line for Leigh – or prove her unlikely saviour?"
Meanwhile, speaking on his experiences working in a prison, writer Williams said: "There is so much more to prison and those who live and work there, than misery and violence – and I’m incredibly proud to be working with STV and Channel 4 to show this in Screw, alongside the authenticity inspired by my experiences as a civilian worker in various prisons."
Who is in the cast of Screw?
A star-studded line-up forms the cast of Screw.
Nina Sosanya of Last Tango in Halifax and Love Actually will play main character Leigh, accompanied by trainee officer Rose, depicted by Derry Girls' Jamie-Lee O'Donnell.
They are joined by Faraz Ayub of Line of Duty fame, Ron Donachie from Game of Thrones and Stephen Wight from Michaela Coel's I May Destroy You.
