It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Glasgow this evening as council workers start to erect the iconic festive lights in the city centre.
A cherry picker has been used to lift the lights high above George Square setting the scene for future markets and holiday fun.
Previous years have seen the likes of Superstar Michelle McManus attend a special switch on celebration enjoyed by thousands of members of the public.

However, last years event was sadly cancelled due to covid 19 restrictions and it has not yet been confirmed if the traditional light switch-on ceremony will go ahead this year.
Despite this, the return of the lights is a welcome sight and one that's sure to bring some much-needed cheer to the city as we head into the winter months.
