A MAN is fighting for his life after a serious assault on Farmeloan Road in Rutherglen.
Police raced to the scene after receiving reports of a serious assault at around 12.05am.
The 51-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is said to be in a "critical" condition.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 12.05am on Thursday October 21, 2021, following a report a man had been seriously assaulted in Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen.
"Emergency services attended and a 51-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where medical staff describe his condition as critical.
"An 18-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
