A THUG scarred his lover for life after striking her on the face with a canvas of his son.

Barry Lennox, 35, lashed out at the woman at her flat in Glasgow's Newlands on June 6, 2020.

Lennox was enraged after she did not accept his apology following an argument.

The attacker burst her lip which required five stitches and will permanently scar.

Lennox pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The court heard Lennox, the woman and a friend were drinking alcohol at her flat around 10pm.

Lennox bickered with the woman through the night.

Lennox later apologised but the woman said he didn't mean it and he "took offence."

Prosecutor Carrie Stevens said: "Lennox took a canvas frame of his son from the fireplace and went to the bedroom where the woman was.

"She was struck to the face by the corner of the picture which struck her lip which caused it to split open and the frame broke due to the impact."

She fled to a friend's property and a 999 call was made.

She was later found by officers in the concierge area in her pyjamas with a visible injury to her lip.

She later received five stitches to a 3cm wound to her lip.

Miss Stevens added: "This will result in permanent scarring."

Police arrested Lennox meantime.

Haroun Malik, defending, told the court Lennox has a background of alcohol issues.

Mr Malik further stated Lennox has a previous domestic conviction against a different woman.

Sheriff Joan Kerr said: "This is a serious matter resulting in a facial injury to the woman.

"All options are open to the court when it comes to sentencing but I will explore if there is an alternative to custody."

Sentencing was deferred until December for background reports and Lennox, of the city's Springboig, had his bail continued meantime.
