Staff at the popular fish and chip shop Blue Lagoon were shocked to receive a visit from customers who they believe to be ambassadors to US President Joe Biden this afternoon.
A group of suited and booted 'bodyguards' attracted a large crowd at the Queen street shop as they chatted to staff and ordered 'on behalf of the president'.

Director of Blue Lagoon Gianluca Varese said: “They phoned the shop first and asked if a member of staff would pop out to the car, which was a huge limousine.
“While that was happening one of the chaps who looked like a bodyguard came in to make sure that everything was safe.
“Then he brought out a man who claimed to be an ambassador for Joe Biden and said that they wanted to bring him some of our food, believe it or not."
Making quite an entrance, the group claimed that they had been advised by others to visit the shop, although they did require some help when it came to ordering the meal for one.
Gianluca said: “There were about four or five of them in total.
“They were all really nice, well dressed in suits and had American accents.
“They looked like the FBI.
“They asked what we would recommend so I told them that fish and chips is our most popular and traditional option.
“I think they must have been trying to find local cuisine for the president to try."

Assuming that the chippy made its way to 78-year-old Biden, here's the exact low down on what he ate this afternoon.
Gianluca said: “It was just one portion of fish and chips with salt and vinegar, it felt a bit unbelievable at that point.
“Then he tried to offer them a deep-fried mars bar because that’s what celebrities usually want to try, but he said that Biden can’t eat stuff like that because of his stomach.
“That’s when we started to really believe it was genuine.
“You wouldn’t do all that for one fish supper.
“We did give them a couple of bottles of Irn Bru to take away because we said he’s in Scotland he has to try it.”
While the group remained tight-lipped with any extra details about the President's COP26 visit, Gianluca and his staff remain convinced that they did in fact serve a member of Biden's team.
Gianluca said: “The staff were really excited and everyone was so happy.
“There were too many signs at once for it not to be the real thing, the amount cars with flags, the small order and the way they were in the shop.
“It was a great buzz.”
One Twitter user spotted the vehicle decorated with American flags outside the restaurant and what appeared to be a bodyguard at the door.
Hi @SecBlinken nice to meet you and your friendly team outside the Blue Lagoon chipper. If you could ask your drivers not to keep their engines running the 🌎 would be pleased. Good luck with saving more lagoons & enjoy yer chips! #COP26 #Glasgow pic.twitter.com/40MHjWUBnt

This wouldn't be the first time that the Blue Lagoon has had a celebrity customer.
In 2016 Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber stunned staff at their Glasgow Central location when he personally called in to order a selection of haggis, fish and sausage suppers with a side of Irn Bru.
What do you say, Glasgow, do we really believe the President indulged in a fried feast this afternoon?
