FURIOUS customers have slammed the “state” of a North Glasgow supermarket car park which has become “filled” with rubbish.
Piles of recycling have been shown stacked up at the side of Tesco Extra in St Rollox in the city's Springburn as cleansing staff continue to strike amid a pay dispute as the UN’s COP26 summit is held in the city.
It’s understood the high volume of waste piled up in just 48 hours only days into the industrial action, which has been led by the GMB union.
Despite the bins being situated in Tesco’s car park, it’s not the responsibility of the supermarket chain to manage the bins.

The area’s Councillor Elaine McDougall said it was “absolutely disgusting”.
After being alerted to the issue by the Glasgow Times, Glasgow City Council insisted it would be cleared as soon as possible.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We have plans in place that focus on public health and seek to minimise the disruption caused by GMB’s strike as far as possible.
“We have asked GMB for certain priority exemptions from their strike action to help us tackle potential public health risks but we still haven’t had a response to our request.
“It is highly likely that all cleansing services will be affected by GMB’s action, but we will keep this situation under review on a daily basis and deploy our available resources as effectively as we can.

“We will aim to return services to normal as quickly as possible once the strike is over, but the effects may be felt for some time. Residents should check the council’s website for updates and advice.”
It’s understood the site has now been cleared.
As previously reported, almost 1,000 park staff have been drafted in to help tackle the city’s cleansing needs while bin staff remain on strike.
It’s thought the walkout will continue until at least November 8.
