RANGERS will not make a move to appoint former Ibrox defender Russell Martin as Steven Gerrard's successor as manager.
Martin has been linked with a potential return to Glasgow as the champions step up their hunt for the next Light Blues boss.
Gerrard is poised to complete his switch to Aston Villa within the next 48 hours as assistant Gary McAllister and staff Michael Beale, Tom Culshaw and Jordan Milsom also get set to head to the Midlands.
Rangers were credited with an interest in Martin on Wednesday evening but the former Scotland stopper is not on the list of targets drawn up by Ross Wilson.
Martin moved to Swansea in the summer after starting his managerial career with MK Dons.
And he will not be making the move to Ibrox and rejoining the club where he spent time on loan in 2018.
