Glasgow is set to double as Gotham city once more as Hollywood actor J.K Simmons confirms Batgirl from D.C Comics will soon begin filming locally.

The series, which is produced by HBO max, will see Simmons reprise his role as Commissioner James Gordon with filming in Glasgow early next year.

He told the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast: “They start very soon and then I jump on board sometime in January over in Glasgow, which is a wonderful place to be shooting it because it’s - you know- gothic.

"I’m excited to be the once and future Jim Gordon."

Glasgow’s gothic vibes are certainly proving to be a hit with producers looking to recreate the masked vigilante's hometown.

Back in February 2020, movie fans were delighted to see the Dark Knight roaming near Glasgow Cathedral on a motorbike for the upcoming film 'The Batman' starring Robert Pattinson.

The city’s necropolis is clearly visible in the teaser trailer leaving us very excited to see our dear green place on the big screen soon.

More recently a stuntman for Ben Affleck’s Batman raced around Glasgow city centre while filming scenes for the Flash movie, proving a hit with locals as he smiled and interacted with the crowds.
