A sale of 500 ‘posh frocks’ is on course to raise more than £10,000 for a Glasgow-based health charity.
The event, organised by Charity Heroes in aid of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, featured a glittering array of full-length evening gowns, wedding dresses, party outfits and more.
Held at The Hub at Pacific Quay, Posh Frocks also included a Christmas market featuring a selection of pop-up stalls from local businesses.
A total of £6600 was raised on the day and with dresses which remained unsold now being donated to Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s shops across the country and expected to raise around £4000, the charity is delighted with the winter windfall.
Andrea McIntyre, Community and Event Fundraising Manager at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day - the local community really turned out to support the event and we managed to sell hundreds of dresses.
“One bride-to-be was delighted to find her dream dress and another woman showed amazing support by purchasing 30 dresses in the last 30 minutes of the sale.”

She added: “The money raised from the event will help make sure people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions in Scotland get the vital support they need to live their lives to the full.
“We want to say a big thank you to Charity Heroes for hosting such a wonderful event, to all our volunteers for donating their time to make the event a huge success, The Hub for hosting the event and their ongoing support, and of course to all of our amazing supporters who came along and bought dresses on the day.”
Fiona Irvine, Founder of Charity Heroes said: “The Charity Heroes team worked throughout the year to set up this event, and we are very grateful to all the people who donated dresses, who attended on the day and who supported our raffle.
“To see a bride say ‘yes to the dress’ was really emotional, and knowing that every unsold dress will raise funds for the charity is wonderful.”
CHSS stores in Glasgow (on Clarkston Road, Dumbarton Road, Fenwick Road and Ayr Road) are appealing for donations this winter - find out more on the charity’s website.
