WITH Christmas Day just around the corner, many of us probably still have some last-minute present-buying and stocking of the food cupboards to do.
But if you’ve got a bit of free time in this busy festive week, here are 10 things you can do in Glasgow to get in the Christmas spirit.
Festive Films at Glasgow Film Theatre
Throughout the week, Glasgow Film Theatre will be showing a variety of popular Christmas movies each day, including It’s A Wonderful Life, Home Alone and Elf.
With something to keep everyone entertained it’s the perfect family day out, especially if you want to avoid the cold.
Showtimes vary and tickets cost £10.90 for adults, £7.90 for senior citizens and £6 for children aged 14 and under.

A Christmas Carol – A Hauntingly Hilarious Family Panto!
Auld Scrooge is in anything but a festive mood as Christmas approaches, but three ghosts will pay him a visit this festive season and show him the error of his ways.
Presented by Halo Arts, the pantomime will take place at the Maryhill Community Central Halls on Saturday, December 18 and Sunday, December 19 at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12 for children under 16, £14 for adults and £40 family tickets are also available.

Art on the Exchange Festive Markets
If you’re on the hunt for some unique last-minute gifts, then head down to this market on Royal Exchange Square which is run by and for artists.
There will be a wide variety of handmade items available, including jewellery, glasswork, clothing and photography from local creatives.
The markets will take place on December 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 from 11am to 6pm.
They are free to attend.
Stained Glass Workshop
In this festive workshop, participants will learn how to cut glass and use lead and solder to create a unique Christmas bauble decoration.
With non-firing paints you can also decorate it or use glass mosaic to add the finishing touches to your creation.
Suitable for complete beginners, the workshops will take place on Saturday, December 18 at 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Klub Kids presents SHANTAY YOU SLEIGH The Drag Christmas Xtravaganza
Hosted by The Vivienne and Baga Chipz, this tour will see the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Series 1 superstars join forces to set off on a magical sleigh ride to visit some of their favourite kings and queens from around the world to spread some festive drag cheer.
The nationwide tour will feature some of the world’s most loved Drag Race stars from the UK, US and Canada including Lawrence Chaney, Latrice Royale, Vanity Milan and Scarlett Harlett.
The 14+ event will be in Glasgow at the O2 Academy on Thursday, December 23 from 7.30pm to 11pm and tickets start at £32.87.

The Silent Night Murder
If you feel like staying inside the comfort of your own home, then this online event organised by Spirit of Glasgow is for you.
It’s set in Christmas 1857, and Mrs Smith is excited to have her guests join her for Christmas Eve dinner and although the evening begins well enough, it ends with murder.
This week, the event will take place on Thursday, December 23 and December 24 at 7pm, though there are more dates after Christmas.

Glasgow city centre festive trail
For the Christmas season, some of Glasgow’s most recognisable buildings are being illuminated by sparkling lights every evening.
Wrap up warm and get in the Yuletide spirit as you make your way round this city centre trail on foot.
Start at George Square where Glasgow City Chambers is being lit up every night with lights and lasers from 4pm until midnight as part of Glasgow Illuminated, before heading to Royal Exchange Square, down to St. Enoch Centre and finishing at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Christmas Spectacular
The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall will come to life on Monday, December 20 with a show filled with music, dance, lights and spectacle.
Featuring West End vocalists, a full orchestra and all-star Jingle Belle dancers, audience members will be able to sing along to seasonal favourites such as Jingle Bell Rock, Step into Christmas and Frosty the Snowman.

The Winter Garden at Festival Village
If you’re feeling like a hot mulled wine while doing your Christmas shopping, then head to food and drinks venue The Winter Garden in Candleriggs Square, Merchant City.
Sheltered seating and overhead heaters will keep you warm while you enjoy food from local vendors AkchoNacho, Street Scullery and Say Cheese, while hundreds of fairy lights will light up the garden when dusk falls, casting an enchanting atmosphere.
The venue is family and dog friendly and is suitable for large groups.
Food and drink prices vary.
The garden is open from 11am to 10pm Thursday to Sunday.
The McDougalls Christmas SingAlong
Join Max and Auntie Aggie for an hour of festive fun, packed with audience participation and musical mayhem.
Children of all ages can get involved and single along to seasonal favourite like Jingle Bells and When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney, and there’s even the chance to win prizes during the show.
The special live event will be in the Theatre Royal Education Rooms on Monday, December 20 and Tuesday 21 at 6pm, and Wednesday 22 at 4pm and 6pm.
