OUR final toy packages are making their way to charities across the city this week.
The Glasgow Times Bank on Us appeal is drawing to a close ahead of the big day, but our team of elves are still hard at work preparing for December 25.
With just days to go, our sponsors at Storage Vault have been collecting hundreds of our recyclable paper bags from schools across the city where pupils have been working hard all month to bring in gifts for the most underprivileged children.
Thousands of gifts were collected earlier this week from the Glasgow Times Cambuslang office while £10,000 worth of gifts were purchased from the popular A1 Toys retailer.

Those presents were then distributed to the toy bank at Refuweegee, which helps refugees settling in Glasgow, the Ms Miss Mrs social enterprise, which provides support for women and their families experiencing trauma, and Hillington, Riverside and Parkview Primary.
Smiley Stars Nursery and Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas (GSOC) also benefitted from bags of donations.
However, our elves weren’t the only ones delivering to our toy bank partners this week.
Both the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Golden Jubilee Hospital also paid a visit to the Southside’s GSOC charity.
The heart hospital’s collection was organised by head of rehabilitation Christina MacLean and PA Maeve Coleman who made 40 pledges for presents this year – 20 each for young people aged 13-16, which amounted to hundreds of gifts.

Maeve said: “Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Golden Jubilee Spirit of Christmas. Myself and Chris delivered all 40 pledges along with a couple of bags of extra toiletries and goodies.
“The charity was absolutely delighted with all the gifts from the Golden Jubilee and they will be distributed to the children most in need in the area on a strict criteria basis.”
