A SUSPECT will stand trial next year accused of assaulting an elderly man with a machete.
Howard Fitzpatrick allegedly attacked 63-year-old Thomas Laird at a property in Glasgow's Ibrox on March 24 this year.
Court papers state the 47-year-old struck Mr Laird on the body with the blade or similar instrument to his injury and permanent disfigurement.

Fitzpatrick - who lives on the same street as the alleged incident - plead not guilty on Wednesday at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
A trial was fixed for September next year by sheriff John McCormick who continued Fitzpatrick's bail meantime.
