A MAN will stand trial next year accused of mistreating his German Shepherd Alsatian dog.
Michael McCaffrey allegedly failed to take steps as were reasonable in the circumstances to ensure the needs of the dog were met at his flat in Glasgow's Dennistoun on November 18, 2020.
The 30-year-old is said to have failed to have provided a suitable environment for the dog.
Court papers state the dog was exposed to urine and faeces and that McCaffrey failed to provide the pet with hydration and nutrition.
McCaffrey faces a separate charge that he did without a reasonable excuse leave the animal unattended and failed to make adequate provisions for its welfare.
It is claimed this was done by McCaffrey failing to provide the hydration and nutrition.
A hearing at yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court was administratively adjourned.
A trial was fixed for January and McCaffrey's bail has been continued meantime.
