It comes shortly after Scotland recorded its highest ever figure of Covid cases this week, with more than 11,000 identified overnight.
On Monday, 10,562 cases were recorded, with 11,030 cases on December 26.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon expects case numbers will rise further in the next few days and has urged the public to not “underestimate the impact of Omicron.”
What are the current Covid restrictions?
Currently, nightclubs have been closed down with a one-meter social distancing rule implemented in other hospitality settings.
Table service and one-way signage has also been brought back into venues with a limit on the number of customers in any premises at one time.
A household cap has also been reintroduced with no more than three in any group when visiting pubs, bars and restaurants.
Facemasks are also required in indoor settings unless you are exempt.
It is expected that these rules will be reviewed in three weeks' time.
Where can I watch the update?
Ms Sturgeon will be giving a virtual update to the Scottish Parliament at 2pm.
You can watch the update on Scottish Parliament TV or through a stream on the Scottish Government's Twitter account.
