RESIDENTS who are struggling to book PCR tests have been advised that the only available appointments are at sites more than 60 miles away.
The UK Government website currently shows that there are also "no available appointments" at walk-through centres across the city.
Locals displaying symptoms of the virus can, however, book PCR tests at drive-through facilities in Kirkcaldy, Peebles or Moffat.

The desperate issue has even led residents to turn up at testing centres in neighbouring regions without an appointment, where they were turned away.
One local, who wished not to be named, said: "I decided to chance my arm but turning up to walk-in centres to see if they’d take me to save a huge drive.
"I tried one in Paisley but was told they’re not allowed to let anyone without an appointment unless they’re a key worker."
The UK Government website to book a PCR test states that there are "very few tests" available across the whole of Scotland.
As a shortage continues, other residents say they have been waiting days for home testing kits to be delivered due to a lack of walk-through appointments.

Another resident, who also wished to remain anonymous, said: "I'm waiting for my home kit to arrive - it's my third day being unable to get a walk-in test.
"It's so so frustrating. My symptoms started on New Year's Eve at about 10.30pm - the classics of sore throat, sneezing and fever etc.
"I don't know when my PCR kit will arrive and once it's sent back there's obviously another wait for it to be processed."
Another local added: "I have been trying to book a PCR for days but there is nothing available. I have been isolating in the meantime but I need to show the results to my work.
"I booked a home testing kit to be delivered in the meantime, but that will no doubt be a lengthy process too and I have been waiting several days for it to arrive."
The UK Government website has encouraged residents who are currently unable to book an appointment to "try again in a few hours".
It comes as Scotland recorded almost 12,000 more cases of coronavirus and a further 13 deaths yesterday.
There were 859 people in hospital with recently confirmed Covid, the daily figures showed, which is an increase of 49 from the previous day’s total.
That included 36 people in intensive care - up from 34.
The Scottish Government said that the testing facilities in Glasgow are currently under pressure due to the outbreak of the Omicron variant.
A spokesperson said: "Our testing system is one of the best in the world, but has faced significant pressure as case numbers continue to rise due to the Omicron variant.
"Some people may have to wait a little bit longer than they normally would have pre-Omicron for a test.
"They should keep trying because new slots become available on the website, on the booking portal, throughout the day.
"We’ve prioritised essential workers for on-site appointments, as well as those at highest risk and eligible for new treatments.
"The number of PCR test slots available has already been expanded during December and additional lab capacity has also been provided to meet this unprecedented demand.”
