A TOTAL of 30 new flats could be built on the site of a former care home in Glasgow.
Wheatley Group plan to develop new social housing at Forfar Avenue, Cardonald.
Their proposal includes 30 new units, which includes one and two-bed flats, some being wheelchair accessible.
The Loretto Housing flats will be for over 55s - in a bid to help keep older people in their own homes for as long as possible.
The former care home, which lies between residential housing and Cardonald Bowling Club, has been empty for around three years, and became a hotspot for antisocial behaviour, prompting pleas from desperate residents to tackle the issue.
Councillor Jim Kavanagh, who represents the area, previously said: “Since it’s been closed, it’s been subject to vandalism and antisocial behaviour giving the elderly neighbours roundabout an absolute nightmare."
It is believed that the building has since been demolished.
Under the new plans, allocated parking spaces, allocated disabled parking spaces, an external bin store and an external scooter store will all be built.
There will be four different types of flats as well as indoor amenity space.
