A KEY railway route will close for two months for major improvement works.
Between March and May, the line between Rutherglen and the Exhibition Centre via Glasgow Central low level. Work will be carried out on the tunnels, tracks and overhead power lines to ensure the route is more reliable in the future.
No trains will run on the section for eight weeks while works are taking place. There are no confirmed plans in place for alternative travel however it is understood trains may be re-routed via Glasgow Queen Street low level and journey times for services may be extended to allow for the diverted routes.

Works will take place in the spring due to lower passenger numbers than in the summer. Network Rail has delayed the works until after COP26 and has brought some forward so that there are no more planned works until 2025.
Those affected by the works are asked to fill in a survey which will allow rail bosses to plan services accordingly by clicking here.
