A PRISONER at HMP Barlinnie has died.
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) announced the news today.
David Sutherland, 42, passed away in Barlinnie prison in Glasgow's East End, on Tuesday, January 11.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course. Meanwhile, Police Scotland have been made aware and the death will be reported to the procurator fiscal.
Mr Sutherland was convicted at Glasgow Sheriff Court last year.

A statement from the SPS read: "David Sutherland, 42, a prisoner from HMP Barlinnie has died on January 11, 2022.
"Mr Sutherland was convicted at Glasgow and Strathkelvin Sheriff Court in 2021.
"Police Scotland have been advised and the matter reported to the procurator fiscal. A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course."
