A GLASGOW nursery teacher has been slapped with a warning after pushing a child causing them to fall over.
The unnamed Glasgow City Council worker was acting in their role as leader of early learning teacher when the incident occurred in December 2019.
A General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) report confirmed the staff member pushed the youngster three times before they fell over.
After helping the little one up, the teacher went on to push the child yet again.
It’s not known which nursery the incident occurred at.
The panel determined while the conduct was serious it was “not serious enough” to cause “lasting damage” to the child or learning environment.

The report said: “The panel found that the Teacher’s previous record up until the time of the allegations had no history of similar events, it was an isolated incident, that it was not at the more serious end of the spectrum and that there had been a recognition by the teacher that what she did was wrong evidencing her understanding, that no harm been caused so far as the panel were aware.”
It added: “The matter did not constitute an abuse of a position of trust but was a breach of trust. There was nothing covert about what happened, harm had not been caused to a child and the matter had been admitted.
“The teacher had reflected, shown genuine remorse, and had taken some steps to address the matters at issue. It was an isolated incident and there had been no repetition as far as the panel were aware.

“There was evidence attesting to the good character and history of the teacher. The teacher had lost her job.
“The panel considered that a reprimand was in the public interest in that it appropriately indicates to the profession and the public the seriousness of the matter at issue, therefore maintaining public confidence in teachers and the teaching profession.
“In all the circumstances, the panel considered that a reprimand was the appropriate and proportionate outcome.”
The nursery worker agreed to a six-month reprimand period.
