Almost 100 new homes are set to be built on the site of a driving range in Johnstone after councillors unanimously approved plans.
Cruden Homes lodged an application with Renfrewshire Council to erect a housing development on the 5.8 hectare site in Rannoch Road.
At a meeting of the planning board on Tuesday, elected members gave the green light to the proposals in line with officers’ recommendations.

The 96-home development will consist of a mixture of four-bed detached homes and three-bed semi-detached and terraced houses with eight affordable properties on offer.
There will be a play area built to the south of the site, open space in the centre and a pond to the north.
The brownfield patch of land has been earmarked for housing as part of Renfrewshire’s new local development plan.
The driving range – which has been described as vacant by the council in a report – is occasionally still used but the owners are wanting to sell the land to developers.
A handful of objections were submitted to the council expressing concern about the level of traffic the development could produce, ground contamination and the potential impact on the nearby quarry.
But in a report to the planning board, council bosses said it will be an attractive development which will contribute positively to the area.

Alasdair Morrison, head of economy and development, said in the report: “It is considered the design and layout of the proposed development will create an attractive place allowing the regeneration and renewal of this land.
“The proposed development is considered to incorporate good active travel linkages to the wider area including to the urban area as well as the green network which surrounds this site.
“A comprehensive transport analysis has been submitted which confirmed the proposed development will not have a significant impact on the local road network.
“Sufficient residential and visitor parking will be provided and dispersed throughout the site.
“In relation to contaminated land, there have been extensive investigations undertaken in relation to the fact the site is brownfield and previously used.
“The Environmental Protection Section is satisfied that the level of assessment and remediation strategy for the site is satisfactory and throughout the development phases this will be verified by the on-going reports submitted to the council.”
There will be 238 parking spaces for residents and visitors on the site.
