A DRINK-driver who was involved in a crash with a child in her car has been slammed by a sheriff.
Lynda Brown was told she put herself and others at risk following the incident on October 24 last year.
The 41-year-old was travelling on Ladykirk Drive in Cardonald when a collision took place.
Fiscal depute Danielle McGuinness told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “The accused was driving with a child in the car. There was a collision, and the witness approached the accused’s vehicle and could smell alcohol from her.
“They removed the keys and contacted police. When officers arrived, they asked who was driving the car and the accused stated, ‘I’m in a taxi’.
“She provided a positive result after a roadside breath test and was conveyed to Govan police office where she refused to provide a sample of breath. She was not cautioned and charged due to her demeanour.”
The court heard that Brown, from Cardonald, has never been in trouble with the police before.
Her lawyer said: “She is extremely remorseful. She’s reflected on her conduct and realises it could have been fatal for herself and others.
“She’s deeply ashamed she placed the child at risk. She has paid for damage caused to other vehicles and is aware this won’t change anything today, but this has helped her address the matter herself.
“She is in full-time employment in a managerial role and has been working all of her adult life.”
Sheriff Valerie Mays fined Brown £420 and disqualified her from driving for 16 months.
The sheriff said: “It’s a serious offence. You put yourself and others at risk, but it does seem out of character for you.”
