THE date for the demolition of the former Susie's Store has been confirmed as rail bosses reveal the extent of disruption locals can expect during major bridge works.
Network Rail announced last year that the Strathbungo building would come down as part of the Barrhead Electrification project to decarbonise the railway by 2035.
To make enough space for train clearance, the Nithsdale Road Bridge will be re-decked and the footbridge between Moray Place and Darnley Road replaced.
The rail firm has now told local residents the work to bring down Susie's Store will happen from August 6 to 8 with 54 hours of disruption to the rail network.

When the news broke last year that the vacant Susie's Store would have to be demolished to make way for the works, a petition was set up to save it.
Susie's was opened in 1968 before being taken over by husband and wife Joe and Gurmet Deo, who ran it for 35 years before closing in 2019.
An online petition supported by local councillor Jon Molyneux said the building is a local landmark.
But Network Rail has not been swayed and the structure is to be demolished during the works, which will run from March 28, 2022 to May 28, 2023.
The installation of bridge deck beams will be August 13 to 15 w while a new bridge deck will be under construction from August 16 to October 25.
Diversions will be in place on to New Road Bridge from October 26 to January 10, 2023.
It is planned that Nithsdale Road Bridge will be complete on January 20, 2023.
The footbridge will be replaced between January 23 to May 23.
Darnley Road lane will be closed and the footpath closed from March 28, 2022 to May 10, 2023.
Moray Place Lane will be closed with emergency service and pedestrian access only.
And the footbridge will be closed from May 7 to 9 overnight and January 16 to 20 next year with pedestrian access maintained across Darnley Road.
Nithsdale Road will be subject to full closure from August 1, 2022 to October 25, 2022 and the roundabout will shut from August 1, 2022 to October 24, 2022
Network Rail said: "While on completion of this project there will be wide ranging benefits, we do appreciate this work will cause disruption to surrounding communities.
"We would like to reassure you that we are committed to working with you to minimise this as much as possible and will update you regularly as this work progresses."
There will be a virtual Q&A session with the project team in the week beginning January 31, 2022.
