New nurseries in Glasgow have been named, after parents and local school pupils made their selection in polls.
A new nursery in Cuthbertson Primary School in Govanhill will be named Victoria Road Nursery.
It was chosen with 136 votes, over Little Cubbies, with 118 and Cuthertson Nursery, with 101 votes.
The nursery will be open for children from two to five years-old.
In Tollcross a new nursery will be named Winter Gardens nursery after the facility in the nearby Tollcross Park.
The name was chosen by parents and primary school pupils with 64 votes.
It was selected ahead of Parkcross with 34 votes and Glenfarm with 34 votes.
It will have 12 places for under 2s and 82 full-time equivalent places for 2 to 5 year olds,
The nurseries are to meet the statutory entitlement for early learning and childcare rising from 600 to 1140 hours.
It is part of the move to having early learning and childcare settings moving to becoming all day, all year services.
Chris Cunningham, Glasgow City Council education and early years convenor, said the aim of the increase in hours and expansion of the services is to: “Maximise choice and flexibility for parents and making better use of our resources and estate.”
