A TEENAGER fractured a man's jaw and cheekbone in a nightclub brawl.

Nicholas Buonaccorsi lashed out at Zak Togher in Glasgow city centre's Kushion on October 20, 2018.

The 19-year-old, of Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, was enraged after Mr Togher had squared up to his friend.

Buonaccorsi - now 23 - punched Mr Togher on the face and caused him to fall to the ground.

His injuries resulted in the victim needing corrective surgery and metal plates fitted which remain in to this day.

The first offender pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr Togher to his severe injury.

The court heard Mr Togher approached Buonaccorsi's booth around 1.48am.

Mr Togher confronted the unknown man, pushed him on the chest and kicked out.

Prosecutor Tanjeel Maleque said: "Buonaccorsi responded to this by punching Mr Togher to the face with his right hand.

"Both men fell to the ground and continued the fight."

The pair were initially separated and got back to their feet.

Mr Maleque added: "Buonaccorsi approached Mr Togher again from the right side and punched him to the right side of his face causing him to fall to the ground."

Staff intervened and people were ejected from the premises.

Mr Togher was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Mr Maleque said: "He suffered two fractures to the right jaw and a fractured cheek bone.

"He required corrective surgery and plates were inserted into his jaw."

Bounaccorsi meantime handed himself into police.

His lawyer Paul McCue asked sheriff Paul Crozier to deal with the matter financially today but this was refused.

The sheriff said: "This is an extremely serious charge.

"This is an assault on a man and no matter what started it resulted in someone having corrective surgery, metal plates and fractures to the jaw and cheek bone."

Sentence was deferred until March pending background reports and Buonaccorsi was bailed meantime.
