A THUG abused shop workers, spat drink all over his brother’s girlfriend’s face then demanded entry into his gran’s home.

Daniel Montgomery, 20, entered the One O One store at London Road on February 8, 2020.

Staff members noted him to be intoxicated and informed him he wouldn’t be served alcohol.

The prosecutor at Glasgow Sheriff Court said: “He began shouting and swearing at the employees. Due to this, the employees informed him he would be barred and asked him to leave, however, he continued to shout and swear.

“He began shouting threats. He stated, ‘this is a f*****g joke, your windows are getting smashed, you’re a f*****g cow anyway’.

“The accused’s brother was outside and made attempts to take him back to his gran's house.”

Montgomery, his brother, and his brother’s girlfriend were all in a lift at a tower block on Helenvale Street.

He then spat a quantity of drink on the woman’s face before laughing at her and making his way to his gran’s property.

The fiscal depute added: “He began banging on the door and shouting and swearing requesting to be let in.

“Due to being worried about his behaviour, police were contacted by the accused’s gran. When police arrived, they spoke with the accused who was still at the door.

“He was arrested, conveyed to Stewart Street police office, however, was not formally cautioned and charged due to being under the influence of alcohol.”

Montgomery appeared in court from custody.

Sheriff Mark McGuire said: “You pleaded guilty to three nasty offences. That’s the only way I can describe it.

“You have a record which does you absolutely no favours. If you carry on in this way, you’re going to spend a large part of your adult life in and out of jail.

“You’ve already been given a 27-month sentence and you’re only 20. Much of your offending, whilst serious, is simply born out of childish maturity.

“If I sentence you to prison it will allow no scope for rehabilitation. I will defer sentence for seven months to allow you to complete your current sentence and allow you back into the community for a report.

“I intend to impose a community payback order with supervision and unpaid work and that will hopefully give you a chance to turn things around.

“If in seven months’ time you put a foot out of line, you’ll be dragged straight back in, and I won’t have much of an option to impose another sentence. I don’t want to do that; I want to try to help you.”

Montgomery, of Shettleston, will return to court in August.
